Description: Gallery 44’s thirty years of commitment to the advancement of photographic art is cause for celebration and reflection. Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography was founded in 1979 by a key group of individuals. This original group has now grown into a large body of members that benefit from the gallery’s creative and supportive environment. The mandate of the gallery and photography itself are undeniably linked to the advancement of the medium. This exhibition of ten members’ work is framed within this evolution while it simultaneously looks back at photography’s history.
